CHEAP! Megazine, 2021-present

CHEAP! Megazine is an arts & design mega-zine which I developed and presented as my Major Thesis on July 2022, and I’m now working to turn into a real business. During its creation I did the whole creative direction, graphic design, web development, content creation, interviewing and video direction, production and editing.

A megazine is a new digital entertainment product I’ve been developing since 2021, and it springs from the intersection of two pre-existing editorial formats: the magazine and the fanzine. Combining the DIY quality of a zine and the bigger scale and public reach of a conventional magazine, the megazine serves as a sort of “inspiration network”, connecting each artist’s main visual and musical influences to each of the interviews and collaborations that would be done with them.

On the other hand, CHEAP’s visual identity is based around the concept of money as a deeply immaterial object, appropriating a universally-recognised graphic identity and using it to satirise how irrelevant money actually is when it comes to being creative – it is through cheapness that true creativity is shown, since it means being able to do a lot using very little.
