‘Lolita takes the UK’ is a BTS short film documenting the photoshoot for Alvaro Mars’ Lolita Blue pre-collection. Winner of the Vogue Global Talents Award, Alvaro Mars is a Spanish fashion designer and founder of the namesake brand, who recently moved to the UK to study the MA Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins.

Alvaro Mars’ unique imagery stems from his Spanish heritage and love for his grandmother, who inspired him to create a fashion persona he ties to all his collections: the Lolita. In this documentary, not only did I film the process behind his latest work, but I asked the starring models what the meaning of ‘grace’ is for them and, most importantly: “What is a Lolita?”.
